DigitalSpace Corporation Licensee/Member: Harold Miller

HAROLD MILLER currently lives in rural Southern Oregon, fixing computers for local small businesses, friends and families under the business name Solid Solutions. He has also been the Webmaster for the Mars Society for most of the last 6 years, and does interesting " special projects". You are welcome to view his résumé. He lives with his wife, JC, and several cats. He is a terminal Pack-Rat, and collector of all items technical.

History

Being a military brat, Harold traveled extensively before High School. Germany, Okinawa, Forts Ord, Benning. and Polk were all home at one time. Then, in 1969, his family settled in the Rogue River Valley, and things changed. During the next 5 years he acquired skills in hunting, camping and sailing, became an Eagle Scout, and was branded with the nickname 'Peabody'. As part of a highschool class project, he joined the US Navy for 7 years, ace-ing the Navy's electronic training school, and visiting bases in Crete, the Philippines, Djibuti, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Vallejo. He learned to learn, that is, to teach himself whatever skills he needed for 'today's job'.

Returning to the Rogue Valley upon his discharge, he worked as an electronic tech, hardware designer, prototype builder/debugger, software designer, technical document writer, then as DP manager. Finally deciding to start his own company, he founded Solid Solutions, and life was good. Not having access to as much technological information as he preferred, he founded the first Internet Service Provider in Southern Oregon, Magick Net, inc. When that company became large enough that Harold was a full-time manager (and not a tech anymore) he sold it, paid off his house, and went back to doing challanging "odd jobs". He has done R&D for DOD projects, written several commercial software packages by himself, and filled two garages with old computers.

Skills and Training

Harold is not afraid of learning new skills. He can design electronic circuits (analog and digital), prototype them, and program them. He can write software in most common computer languages. He has been doing network system administration and security on the dozen PC's in his office for several years now. He LOVES to brainstorm new ideas, travel, and will argue either side of almost any issue. His biggest weakness is his fear of boredom.
