GALEN BRANDT is a leading expert in the area of immersive VR systems as applied to art, performance, and medicine with a focus on healing and mental health. She presents at conferences including Medicine Meets Virtual Reality, SIGGRAPH, COMDEX, VR Universe, Digital Hollywood, ARCO/Madrid and others.
Galen is also a new product marketing expert with a current focus onpro-social uses of new technologies. Her clients have included United Media, Dun & Bradstreet, Johnson & Johnson, Lone Wolf (now SingleStep Technologies),The Franklin Mint and Corning.
As singer and songwriter, Galen has performed in and led many rock, folk and world music groups since the 1970's, including the current worldmusic ensembles Mawwal and Paranoise.
She specializes in children's music and has produced, created and performed music for clients including Walt Disney, Hasbro, Lorimar, Western Books 'N Tapes and Left Coast Television.
In an NIH-funded program under the auspices of DoToLearn.com, she is currently writing and performing safety songs for web-based VR safety games which aid children with autism, fetal alcohol syndrome and related disorders.
Galen's work for the Commons has included key participation in the Red Apple Online project and its follow-up report, design work on the Commons, support of marketing and conceptualization on most of the key Commons projects and products, participation in the annual Avatars cyberconferences and directing efforts on the Ratava's Line project at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
