DigitalSpace Corporation Participants

DigitalSpace Corporation Licensee/Member: Bruce Campbell
BRUCE CAMPBELL is a Computer Scientist and Information Scientist interested in collaborative virtual reality and virtual community.
As of February 3, 2003, he is also a Ph.D. candidate in Industrial Engineering. Currently, he is working with various scientific visualization communities on campus, helping groups consider the merits of 3-D, collaborative interaction as a long-term goal.
He has focused his efforts on studying and guiding the ever changing VRML/X3D standard as well as interfacing VRML with Java. Lately, he has been working extensively with the Java 3D API as well as other 3-D Java renderers such as Shout3D and Anfy3D.
His Masters Project tested the viability of 3D collaboration in a simulation world created with VRML and Java, networked between 4 simultaneous participants. The results left him feeling hopeful that all kinds of valuable multi-user virtual worlds are just around the corner.
Bruce directs the OWorld project which is the vehicle that connects DigitalSpace with the open source and universities/distance learning worlds. Bruce is also in charge of the Commons' java programming efforts.
