DigitalSpace Corporation Licensee/Member: Brian Thomasson

BRIAN THOMASSON (a.k.a.-=Oz=-) is a Huntington, West Virginia resident and avatar enthusiast. In May of 1998 Brian founded OzGate International, using DigitalSpace Traveler, a 3D virtual world voice chat avatar community. Given Brian's background in electronics, audio engineering and radio communications, OzGate was for him merely the next logical step in Internet communications and on-line virtual world community building. OzGate International now runs the longest standing Traveler community on Earth, comprised of two international servers in Sacramento, California and Umea, Sweden.

Brian first found his "comfort level" in communications when he got into amateur radio. His parents were both "hams" and he soon became involved in A.R.E.S., the Amateur Radio Emergency Service and T.A.R.A., the Tri-State Amateur Radio Association. Like so many others, he found volunteering his skills to the local community and using his gear to talk worldwide could be very addictive and rewarding. While his short-lived music career didn't turn out the way he had hoped, he found his talents put to much better use as an audio engineer. His experience with The Audio Workshop and Soundwave Productions had him working with many well known bands and celebrities.

Brian has done much to promote the acceptance and colonization of cyberspace since 1995 and is a regular participant in the annual on-line Avatars events which began in 1998. He credits his hard working staff and a host of artists who contribute valuable time and effort, to making OzGate one of the longest-lived on-line Internet voice chat communities

Brian also works closely with Bruce Damer and other Commons members in supporting and managing the Traveler Community division of the DigitalSpace Corporation. His five years of experience in hosting real-time full-duplex community voice chat servers is put to good use supporting the new TalkSpace product and its clients worldwide. He believes strongly that TalkSpace will play a key role in facilitating on-line
distance learning, secure corporate communications and organizational
strategies that span the globe well into the 21st century.
