Upcoming Year 2008 DigitalSpace Events

Jan 26-27, 2008: Virtual Worlds Workshop at the at NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field CA, USA. This is a special event hosted by Center Director Pete Worden on the intersection of virtual worlds and space, for scientific, engineering and educational applications. DigitalSpace's Bruce Damer will present the opening visionary talk and is also helping to co-organize this event. Other speakers include Will Wright, designer of The Sims, who will talk about his new upcoming game, Spore.

March 3, 2008: Bruce Damer of DigitalSpace presents to the Grey Thumb special interestgroup in Artificial Life in Boston, MA, USA.

April 4-6, 2008: CONTACT, Cultures of the Imagination, 24th Annual Conference, returns to the NASA Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, CA, USA. DigitalSpace will present an update on its work with NASA, on the explosion of the use of avatars, and on project Biota.

Undetermined date in 2008: Bruce Damer and Galen Brandt will be presenting at the HUMlab at Umea University in Umea, Sweden. Galen's presentation will be titled "Burning Man: Participatory Rituals, Dangerous Beauty, Public Grieving, Dust and Celebration, Co-Creating the Present" and Bruce's presentation will be on the topic of "Will Bona Fide Life Evolve from within Human Technology (and what are the consequences of this happening)?". In addition, there will be an internal seminar on the Virtual Worlds Timeline project.
